Hi Sohrab,
I have been doing a lot of this text file loading business lately, feel free to
check out a beta of what I am working on at http://pulse.towerrecords.com
To load text from an external file is pretty simple.
1) you must have a text field varible named. to do this make sure the text
field icon is selected (bottom of tool bar) and create a new text area. Then
right click (control click on macintosh) on the field, and name it whatever you
want (i.e. content)
2) you need to create a text file that has unix line breaks that is also url
encoded. i.e.
content=This+is+the+text+that+I+want+to+use.&
Make sure that you have the varible name first, followed by equals sign, then at
the end of the text make sure you have an ampersand.
3) you need to load the varible from action script. Create an action script on
a keyframe. Double click on frame, chose actions, and then do load varibles,
type the relative url to the text file from the flash animation (i.e. text.txt)
Hopefully that will point you in the right direction. Let me know what the url
is once you get it completed, I would love to check it out.
