FLASH: Jumpy image

I have created several Flash4/3 projects. When I play the movie, or export

the movie to a SWF, the movie is always "Jumpy", it never seams as smooth as

some of the stuff I see on AnimationExpress.com (as an example).


I'm sorry, I havn't moved the image to the web yet so I can't show you it.

I'll try to describe it as best I can.


My latest project is taking a photo that has been sliced into about 10

strips then each strip is moving up and down independantly. I have a

circular swirling mask that allows another image to show through. Then I

have text rotating around the whole image.


This is all down within 20 frames.


When I test or run my movie, it seems to run to a point then pause for half

a second then continue. This split-second pauseing makes the movie appear

jumpy.


I have tried increasing the frame rate as fast as 100 FPS with the same

results.

I've tried elongating the frames to about 200 frames with the same results.


Why is this soo jumpy?


My machine is a Celeron 433 w/256 meg ram, Voodoo graphics card so I don't

think it's hardware related.
