Paul/all,
I know a bit. Xara is the program that created the great features that Corel
added a few years back. (Interactive Transparencies and Blends) Illustrator
is just now getting transparencies and Corel has had them for at least 3-4
years. (Freehand also came after them if memory serves me correctly.) After
acquiring Xara Corel made it ppart of their takeover agreement that it could
in the future only be sold on the web. Probably because of that the software
is much cheaper now. About $79 for the full package and $39 for the 3D
subset alone. I think their 3D looks better than Vecta or Swift. Best news
is that the next version is to have SWF export capabilites so for alot of us
this might be a great additional tool.

p.s. I would consider a bit like a Fireworks recommendation. i.e. It would
be one of the first I'd recommend to someone without an existing skillset
Does anyone know anything about this?

If they make it as simple to use as Xara 3D, it could be interesting.
