This sounds like something which should be basic, but isn't really, imo,
since it requires movieclips and tell-targeting. The best way I know of
to keep a button in a state (eg, red) until you click another button is
to put it into a movieclip with two frames, a blue (labelled off-blue)
and a red (labelled on-red), both with stop actions. When the button is
clicked, goto and stop("on-red"). When something else is clicked,
tell-target the movieclip to goto and stop("off-blue").
