Actually, I beleive that this is a tad more complicated than what the manual
or tutes on the web explain . . . if I am reading the question right.

Do you mean you want the button to stay red after you have clicked it? And
then another button turn/stay red after you click it simultaneously turn the
other red button back to blue?

If so, you will need to do this manually. Nothing automatic in Flash for
this.

One way is to have a red button in a frame at a higher layer at the buttons
destination. And a blank keyframe after.

Or set up a movie clip that has frames(with stop actions) equal to the
amount of buttons you have. Draw a red button in each frame for each button
above the original. On click - Tell Target the MC to goto the corresponding
frame where the appropriate red button is . . .

. . . make sense?

If not, let me know. I'll try to provide better details.
