FLASH: Flash 5 - Mr. Wobensmith or Dowdell...(or Hall for that matter)

Wow, I hope Branden doesn't mind playing second fiddle here - and I must
say, being the first name in the list is only making my head swell up even
more! ;>)

Anyway......

Here's some good news for you.

First off, if you use Flash 4, you will be able to script the same way in
Flash 5, essentially. Plus, you'll see more power there once you master that
level of interactivity. So, it's not new in that regard.

Second, ANY JavaScript book will help you! We say "95%" of JavaScript will
work in Flash, with notable exceptions. Esp. for the basic concepts, go
ahead and get a beginner JS book. It will help.

Also, remember, there will be lots of code available out there - JavaScript
is the singlemost popular client-side Web programming language - there's a
huge installed knowledge base out there for JS that will be *quickly*
adapted to Flash.

Last, but not least - Flash 5's documentation had a HUGE boost. Flash 4 had
one 200+ page book. Flash 5 will have TWO books (Using Flash 5 and the
ActionScript reference guide). Together, it will have over 800 pages of
docs! We heard the public on this, big time, and that's why you get so much
more bookage this time. :>)

Great...
A NEW language to learn.....
So how close to JavaScript is it?
As a NEWBIE to programming, what should I start learning to be comfortable
with the NEW Actionscripting? (or the OLD Actionscript for that matter)
JavaScript?
C++?
What I am asking is - What language translates the best to learn the new
actionscripting (so I can start learning now)?
I've asked it before, but I want to be able to create my OWN scripts, not
alter others' scripts (though I'll do that too).
I want to learn, but I need to know where to start. I am proficient in HTML,
FLASH (using it since Flash 2), and website design - I am no newbie to
THAT....
What do you think, list?
