James,
one of the biggest reasons to why an "under construction" page is a no-no on the
Internet is that every web site, every web page, in a sense is always 'under
construction'. So in a sense; it's redundant...

It we're talking about a link of an already existing web site, then naturally
don't include that link at all.

However, for a splash page, I suggest you do the following;
Just post a message saying:


"Coming soon to a computer near you -
C O M P A N Y N A M E -
Opens xx/xx/xxxx (the date it will be up and running)
E-mail for infoatcompanyname [dot] com"


That's what I do and I think it works great. The key here is to
let people know WHEN it will be up. And then keep that date.
