I'm glad you like it. This uses a multiresolution mesh, which first streams
in the significant polygons, later streaming in detail polygons. The Intel
implementation uses multires mesh as well as subdivision surfaces, which
actually creates additional curvature detail on the client.
One hidden use of multiresolution mesh is in variable level-of-detail. This
wouldn't matter as much in the MetaStream renderer, where you're usually
manipulating a single object, but is very handy in the Shockwave 3D
renderer, where objects can lose detail as you move further away from then,
increasing overall rendering speeds as you move through a world.
