Sounds like a tough one, and I'm sorry I haven't worked a similar situation
before... I don't have a ready solution.
If a particular tracing is complex enough to cause a problem, then one
hypothesis could be that it's overloading the current computer... if it's a
Mac you can try to increase RAM, or you can try to open that FLA on another
strong box, if one is handy. (I'm not sure what's stronger than a 450MHz
PIII, though.... :-(
But another hypothesis is that this complex tracing may be corrupt, too. If
we can't display it, and can't even access it by name in the Symbol
Library, then I'm not sure how to select it to delete it.
Hmm... have you tried selecting a different symbol, and then
SHIFT-selecting a range around the suspect symbol? If it's actually a
corruption problem, then this sequence could avoid parsing the problem
symbol itself... SHIFT-selection of a range of (possibly dummy) symbols
could be a way to select it without evaluating it.
Tip: If you *can* get rid of this problem tracing, then be sure to "Save
As" the file immediately... this will rewrite a totally new file, instead
of just including the potentially corrupt media and marking it as ignored.
I'm sorry I don't have a proven way to handle this... have other
listmembers come across a similar situation, have proven tips on how to
handle a complex tracing that may be damaged...?
