RE: FLASH: Flash 4 Bugs

I have experienced problems with loading external files into a flash4 movie.

I attempted to load 20 external swf files into targetted movie instances

which caused the browser (IE5 on WinNT) session to crash when played back.

The movie does not crash if I load only 10 movies in the same way.

I contacted Macromedia's developer support network and they were unable to

offer any help with this problem.

Dear Flasher-list,


We recently tried to create dynamic html content using Macromedia Flash 4.

Our project fatally colapsed because of too many bugs where we didn't found

a

proper workaround.


We tested our flash file on a server inside our network. Worked pretty good.

But if we test from an outside location, strange things happen.


Here follows the strange bugs we detected:

Bugs in Flash 4 while editing:


x.  Using LoadVariables() with "Load variables into location" & a bunch of

     variables forces the flash project to "crash"...

     [Code editing with the ActionScript Editor]


(As the project became more complex many unexpected crashs appeared in Flash

4

under MacOS 8.6)

Bugs detected while loading from a server outside our network:


x.  Using the property "Visibility" seems to be "buggy" and not working

always.


x.  Using the property "_url" returns a different result under Windows 98

with

     Microsoft Internet Explorer 5

Has somebody had similar experiences?

Is there a Flash 4 buglist available?

Is there an Update of Flash 4/Player?
