Weeell...
I don't quite get this, but I don't think it'd work. What is widthvar
supposed to be? In the syntax you suggest, it seems to imply that widthvar
represents the target path, in which case I'm not sure I see where it makes
a difference. Or are you saying:
Main timeline: variable name widthvar
Movie clip:setvariable ("/:widthvar",_width)
That kind of makes sense.
But it doesn't work
Here's the script I tried:
Begin Tell Target ("/body")
Set Variable: "/:widthvar" = _width
Set Variable: "/:posvar" = _x
End Tell Target
Trace (widthvar)
This is on the main timeline. Occasionally, I get a response 'Target not
found', although the target is correct, and indeed was selected from the
target options.
Weird.

Well, I haven't really got far enough to test this, but surely it would
depend in any case on whether I'm using the centre or the top left. That's
what the bleedin' help files said, anyway.
