Subject: | FLASH: Variables information |

Hi, New here but hoping someone can send me in the right direction to solve my current dilemma.
I am creating a flash project that has interactive drag n' drop, nothing new. However the client would like to save the information to be able to go back to the movie and pick-up where they left off. I have the information going out to a database and being called up from the database on the 1st frame and setting the text fields with the saved information. Where I am having problems is then evaluating the "variable" to then move the object to it's last know position.
I have tried variations on the following script with no luck, and have gone through what seems like endless technotes & tutorials without seeing how they might apply to what I need to do. Any advice/comments welcome.
Frame 1: Contains actionscripting to load variables, this works
Frame 2: (Sample, not working)
If ("/:H_var1" eq "C")
Begin Tell Target (/C")
Set Property (".../C", X position) = 434
Set Property (".../C", Y position) = 618
End Tell Target
End If
