Oh, gosh, those "web bugs" are bad karma, because they're trying to hide
themselves by nature. You might consider just tracking the server request
for the SWF itself, because this is aboveboard and obvious.

The Flash Player can dynamically pull other SWFs at runtime. The larger
Shockwave Player has import filters for a variety of media types, including
GIF and more... it's easier to request an arbitrary graphic at runtime in
the larger player.
