If a file has been damaged on disk, then you might try whether a standard
computer diagnostics utility can repair it.... that's the only way to go
forward that I know of, sorry.
They say that "the only people who haven't lost files are those who will",
so I'll frequently "Save As" during work to make an ongoing archive, and
I'll make sure to save a copy of important work to another drive before the
end of the session. Losing a hard drive just before a deadline is an awful,
awful feeling.... :(
