Text fields rely on the user's computer to render if the font outlines
haven't been included (in the Text Field Properties dialog box). A plain old
text field, under a mask layer, won't show text because of this.

Text fields, without enclosed font outlines, can't be masked, scaled, or
rotated... doing so will cause the text to disappear.
