I often analogize this 'dilemma' to stock photography or clip art. The laws are similar if not exactly the same in some respects. most importantly, always ask the question, "would it be OK with me if someone used my original graphics (without permission) in the same fashion?" Be sure you follow not just your opinion, but the laws of our/your fair land as well.

Permission is the key, everything that follows is details.
