For a great wav editor with great effects, etc, try
Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge. For midi and wav editing
abilities, multi-track, sequencing, and much much
more, try something like Cakewalk.
Keep in mind, setting up an audio station/studio takes
more than just gear. You have to do something with it
and have the talent.
Also, don't get caught up in the hype of all the
different gear and software out there, or you'll get
lost and will only hurt your music abilities. Bare
bones is often better in most situations. Or, as you
buy something new, study it, master it, etc, before
you buy your next piece of gear or software.
