Adobe Type Manager Deluxe is pretty good and certainly better than doing it
by hand. I must have at least 2000 fonts all told ( though not all
installed) and I wouldn't want to try to track them myself. I haven't found
anything better that is out now. Adobe bought and killed the best one on the
PC.
I'd get ATM if I were you. It manages not only type 1 fonts but true type
as well. You can make font packs of fonts of your choosing and activate and
de-activate them as needed.
If you are using an NT system then I don't know if that is a good choice.
Every time I have opened a type 1 font in Flash I have crashed the machine I
was on at the time. I don't have real depth of experience on this, but 3
hard crashes sure were a strong hint.
