Actually, it's kinda interesting how I made those car files...
Years ago, I made a special flatbad scanner (yes, it was scanned) mount for
the slot car by marking a piece of tape with equally spaced tic marks and
taping the tape around the plastic top of a can of spray paint. Mark a notch
on the can itself, and you can get 36 (or whatever) positions of rotation.
Attach the car to the top, as if it is sitting on the can' top. Then, make a
cradle to hold the can w/car over the scanner. Scan once, then turn to the
next tic mark and scan again, continue 'til you've gone 360 degrees.
I had a dark hood over the assembly, to simulate night, and had a flashlight
directed on the car for each scan (from the side, flashlight in same position
each time).
Then, trim scans in editing program and number 'em. And voila!
I'd use my Nikon 950 today, if I were to redo it. But then again, I like the
cheesey blurry effect.
