My new G4 is unstable enough that I'm awfully tempted to just install OS 8.6
from the B/W G3 instead - that one wasn't close to as stable as my PPC, but
7.6 just doesn't do enough. I'm somewhere between mildly amused and totally
aggravated to find the G4 hard crashes in such a way that it can't hold
preferences (like control strip on, and no I don't live in the Cupertino
Time Zone) and they hafta be reset... and one of the things that crashes it
that way is clicking on the Apple shortcut to register the software that
came with the machine... It's not application/extension conflicts... there's
almost nothing on it that didn't come with the machine (unless it just came
with conflicting extentions...). I don't even have Flash on it yet! I'm
kinda afraid to load it though...
