The best tools are within the Flash authoring environment (in fact, the only
tools that I'm aware of) and those are these:
The "test movie" menus:
View...Bandwidth profiler
...Streaming Graph
...Frame-by-Frame Graph
Control...Show Streaming
and the "publish settings":
Flash tab...Generate Size Report
Those are the best places to see where any hold-ups are and to see how long
to make a "preload" of information until the rest of your movie will stream
with no gaps. I especially like the Size Report - you can catch all kinds
of things there, like using one little letter of a font you forgot to change
somewhere will add to your file size.
And the "show streaming" is invaluable to those of us lucky enough to be on
cable connections...brings back the real world when you have to sit and wait
at 28.8...
