There really isn't a hard rule regarding using load vs. go to frame or tell
target. Load movie is most useful for page elements you want to stream in
separatly, for instance you have a large (in kbs) section that only certain
users might want to see, so why make everyone load it every time? Or you
have random cycling of background sounds, why make someone preload all the
possible sounds when they will only hear one each time? Or you have page
elements shared over multiple swfs. Or you have a particular section that
gets updated frequently while the rest of the site stays the same. In cases
not like the ones above (or others I havn't thought of;-), it is often
better to use a go to frame or tell target. In both cases, if you set the
dynamic elements on a different layer (or in a different, higher level
movie) from the background, the background will stay the same (as long as
your keyframes tell it too;-).

One other thing to be aware of is that pre-MSIE 5 Macintosh versions of IE
had trouble with multiple loaded movies and with loaded movies that did not
finish loading before beign unloaded. Fortunatly, most Mac users who like
MSIE are upgrading, but if your client requires compatibility with this
browser, you probably want to limit yor use of LM or test thouroughly (more
specific details on MSIE4.x & Flash are in the Macromedia tech notes).
