FLASH: ADMIN: Personal flames and spiralling discussions

A couple of people have brought the recent off-topic email spirals to my 

attention.


I'm sorry if this seems obvious and patronising, but please think before 

posting...because...


- every email you send reaches 2000+ people including many of your peer 

group (maybe you'll be asking one of these people for a job one day in the 

future)

- keep criticism constructive, a site isn't just crap, why is it crap, what 

could improve it?

- before you leap in to criticise a site, bear in mind your own work 

probably isn't perfect


- flasher should be a friendly place, where it's not scary to ask 

questions, ask for criticism

- if you're tempted to respond in the heat of the moment, take a break, 

grab a coffee, pace the room, but don't respond immediately...that way 

flame wars and personal animosity lie.


In the efforts of conserving bandwidth...which is a good thing because all 

those flash movies will load quicker, right?! - please only quote the parts 

of the email you're replying to (with correct attribution), and keep 

signatures down to a maximum of 10 lines (remember it's there to promote 

not to annoy).


Think of it this way. Each extra character you type is 2Kb of extra emails 

that have to be sent in total!
