Flash can only access information (CGIs, Load Movies, etc.) on the same
server the SWF is. Macromedia says it's a security question.

Hi Neil

I don't know if you were thinking of "my cgi"-problem a while ago.. but for
me the problem was mostly the output of the script...
I didn't want it to print a html page.. as for accessing the script from an
swf I never had any problems.. a simple "load
variables" with the correct URL (pointing to my cgi-directory) works fine..
and no need for the swf to be in the same directory..
