Tony,
First let me say that the concept of your game has all the hallmarks of an addictive waste of time. Of course, I mean this is the best possible way. :) I work for an airport consultant, so call me biased. Seriously, though, I love games like this, they remind me of the old cartoons with the cat scrambling to keep a mouse under each paw.
Here are a few thoughts after playing a couple of times:
Firstly, you might consider making the board (playing area) larger (tighter grid), the planes smaller and using more graphical icons for the different airports, such as photos or some other sort of recognizable image. A related idea would be to have the background image be a quasi-map instead of an abstract rectangle. You can still use the right-angle paths and controls, laid out however you want, but the added "geographical" design motiv might make the game more dynamic, not to mention adding a bit more of the old "memory" card game element.
Second, I agree with those who feel the controls for the jets are a bit cumbersome, but I believe this is mainly due to the quick pace of the game. There's a lot of controls but no time to really do much besides trying to point the plane away from the edge and (hopefully) toward the right airport. During gameplay, I found that I paid almost no attention to the altitude of the aircraft, but rather just scrambled trying to keep them from flying off the board or into each other. I believe I would enjoy playing more if the realistic goal was to land all the planes instead of just more than 50%.
More (smaller) planes, bigger board, and a slightly slower pace, and I believe you've got a really fun, captivating game! Of course, I say all this with 4 months of Flash experience, so please understand that these are the comments of a graphic designer and game-player who's overall totally impressed by what you've created. :)
Best wishes,
