Subject: RE: FLASH: WAV file retention....

fwiw, that saving strategy is common across many applications... a "Save"
operation is fast, and appends changes to the file, while a "Save As" takes
a bit longer because you're rewriting the file from top to bottom, ignoring
any chunks which are no longer referenced.

Rephrased, this is a computer-y tidbit which will serve you in good stead
in general: "'Save' appends changes, and 'Save As' fully writes a new
file."

Important sidenote: Please back up your files. Don't keep saving over one
copy. Every hour or so, or whenever you'll embark on a new section, do a
"Save As" to make an archive copy. When you're done for the day, do another
"Save As" to another drive. This keeps your file sizes smaller and helps
protect against the inevitable day when a file gets corrupted or a hard
drive fails. (You *will* lose a hard drive, given enough time on
computers... they're pretty good these days, but please don't think it will
never happen to you!)
