I see your points - they're quite valid.
I think that from the MM side, that we may be more familiar with Flash 3 and
Flash 4, and intuitively know the differences. From the developer's side,
who may have started with Flash 4, this may not be obvious.
What we usually tell customers is to refer to the beginning section of
"Using Flash", starting on page 10. This is a list of new features in Flash
4, which you would want to avoid using if you are exporting your SWF as
Flash 3. I feel this is a pretty good start.
In a nutshell, using info from these pages as well as from memory, the
following Flash 4 features will not translate to the Flash 3 SWF format:
-Text fields (as opposed to plain text/type)
-Device fonts (_sans, _serif, _typewriter)
-ActionScript (variables and expressions)
-MP3 audio (use ADPCM instead)
-Color transparency (as opposed to symbol instance transparency - alpha -
which is fine in F3)
-Draggable movie clips (see third item above)
-Cursor tracking (as above)
-Loading data (as above)
There may be a few more I'm missing at the moment, which I'm sure list
members will add. :>)
