Hi Colin,
If you create a symbol in Flash 2 you will create a dysfunctional
button if you change its property to button after it is created.
This is a long known button bug. Proper way to create a new button
using an existing symbol or object, select the symbol on canvas use
Insert > Create Symbol and select button Behavior.
To fix an dysfunctional button, do not use Duplicate though it may
seem to work at first.
Create a new button and copy all the frames and layers and paste
over first frame of the new button.
