Since PNGs with an Alpha channel can be up to twice as large as a bitmap
without the an alpha channel using GIFs can result in substantual file
size savings. GIFs don't use an alpha channel but use one (or more) of
the pallette colors to be transparent. Unfortunately, Flash only
recognizes the Gif 89a transparency if it is set for Index Zero, so you
must set the color you want to be transparent as the Zero Index color
(upper left color on the palette) before you export the GIF for use in
Flash.
