I disagree. It seems since some people find that Gabriel is 19, that makes him
a "naive"
designer. "Teenage, neanderthal, sci-fi, heavy-metal, fanatic" ? I think thats
a little overboard.
The popularity you are critisizing is the "awe" about "gabocorp", not Gabriel's
hompage.

Bad form,
I bet a million bucks Gabo cant freehand airbrush, but that doesnt make him a
"bad" artist or designer.
The medium hes' mastered is obvious.

Absoulely!
That IS really "something" since you never see it.
It is very rare and I have yet to see computer skills make someone a great
designer anymore
than Ive seen a paintbrush make someone a great artist.
I would much rather work beside an experienced designer that doesnt
have a clue about computers than a "skillled" computer person that
adds quickly to the internet looking like a kindergardener's bulletin board.

Just because its "easy" doesnt make it non-effective or non-expert.

Gabriel has done 3 things right, in my book,
1. Hes created an effective "experience" that draws the viewer into his site
making the viewer forget they're on the web.
2. Along with his simple, yet effective interface, hes paid attention to small
details like
lighting sources, tween easing and precise framerate.
3. He has combined visuals, audio, animation and ergonomics effectively
together which makes it
a expert composition.
Some say that his site is all "bells and whistles" and while this might be true
as far as his lack of content, he has used flash effectively and has shown
what the medium can do.
Content comes with time and I personally dont think Gabriel's doormat is dusty.
I will be the first to view his next piece of work. Im sure most of us will,
even
the ones that have corncobs stuck up their ass. =8>)-
