I'm just wondering, Is it possible to have a clear background to a flash
movie?

Yes. You can make your background transparent using Aftershock.
1. Open Aftershock and locate your .swf file.
2. Click on the Shockwave tab and locate the Window Mode drop-down box.
Select Transparent Windowless.

Hope that helps.

Eric
