Subject: RE: FLASH: Extreme 3D no longer exists?

Well, only high end 3D programs with special renderers will output into
vector format (> $2000). Most output to some kind of bitmap format. I have
owned Extreme 3D, and, although I love most of Macromedia's stuff, it was
smart of them to take it off the market. The modeler was very difficult to
use and the whole thing just didn't measure up to it's competitors.

Most of the posts regarding 3D and FLASH lately have centered around how
best to convert from the bitmap output of the 3D program to vectors in
FLASH. And it seems that most people are hand tracing over each frame of
the animated 3D bitmap output. If you can get away with tracing bitmaps for
FLASH, some good entry level 3D programs would be Ray Dream Studio 5.0
(cheap, a little unstable, but nicely automated for the beginner) or
trueSpace 4.0 (more $, more powerful, nice renderer, funky interface).

I'm trying to find a 3D program that works good with Flash. I went to the
Macromedia site to find Extreme 3D, only to learn they no longer offer it
as a stand alone product. They refer to Fireworks and FreeHand. I wasn't
aware Fireworks did 3D.

Does anyone know why they aren't offering it anymore? Actually a better
question would be, does anyone know where I can still find Extreme 3D? I
need some kind of 3D program that doesn't require a whole lot of time
consuming learning. I'm the WYSIWYG type a person. I think Drag and Drop
are my first and middle name. :)
