Audio compression allows you to decrease the quality to get smaller file
sizes.
You may not notice a difference with small sounds, but you will see a big
difference when playing say a background loop.
The smaller the bit rate and Frequency are the smaller the file size, but
also you lose sound quality. Like listening to a song on a stereo then
having your friend play the same song over the phone. You hear the
difference compression works in the same principal.
That's it in a nutshell.
