I think that's a fine idea...really. It just takes the time to do it.
But... let me defend Macromedia a bit (and I'm normally the first to dish
out the criticism where appropriate). They may be biased toward one TYPE of
example over another--but that's the nature of opinions (they're biased).
In all my dealings with Macromedia I have never felt there was a conspiracy
to only include "insiders". They had a little "user group" meeting last
year and invited anyone who had organized a "Macromedia Users Group"--but it
wasn't like you had to pay them to be part of the club. They respected
everyone... disclosed information that you might not even expect from a
users conference, and were sincerely appreciative of their customers.
(Compare this defense next time you hear me complaining.)
Seriously, they're pretty good guys.
