Joe,

Here's the lowdown, the programs most used to make broadcast quality film/tv
are Avid, Adobe Premiere and Discreet Edit*. Premiere is the cheapest at
about $600, then Avid (I don't know how much), then Edit* at about $12,000.
There are some cheaper video editors but I am not too familiar with them and
I'm not sure if they support broadcast quality.

Basically, what you do is build your animation in Flash, you'll need to make
sure it's the proper dimensions and Frame rate (usually 30 works) for your
format and video editing application. Then export it as an AVI and select an
appropriate Codec for your purpose.

You should then be able to import your AVI into a video application and make
any edits you want. Then you need a video card that supports some kind of
output to some kind of tape. If you don't want to buy a video card, there
are businesses that will transfer it to tape for you.

If you are doing this for fun or a non-business project, probably VHS is
alright for you. If, however, you absolutely need a broadcast quality Master
tape, then you need to learn about HI-8, or DV formats, which are industry
standard formats. They also require some serious bucks for the equipment.

Here's some more info at the Macromedia site:

Let me know if you have any more questions!
