Mark,
Take a look in the goodies folder of the CD-ROM that came with the Flash 4
application. There's a JavaScript Demo folder containing an example of how
a Flash navigation bar in one frame can send FSCommands to the browser,
from which JavaScript and a special set of Flash methods can be used to
target and control a SWF in another frame. It also shows how from HTML
links in a third frame you can use those methods (FSCommand not needed) to
target a SWF in another frame and control it.
To go to a particular frame label in Flash, for example, you could use the
TGotoLabel method. For a list of Flash methods, see:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/publishexport/scriptingwithflash4/scriptingwithflash4_03.html
Also, there's a short tutorial near the end of the new Flash 4 Bible that
talks about using Flash with JavaScript and DHTML, which provides info
along the same lines.
cheers,
Pete Benedict
