Marc,

Use Director. gee. what wonderful advice. thanks. ;)

In all seriousness, thank you for trying to solve this issue for me. I decided to stick with Flash
due to the small size of the files and I'm not always happy with the way Shockwave files
behave under all circumstances. So, I've been pulling out what little remains of my hair over
this issue since the project began in January. I "solved" it by making a fake volume control
that does nothing but play a low to high to low volume sound bite and rotate from 0 to 20 to
0 db when the user rolls over it. I've got a mute button for each channel on the sound board
section (8 in all) and since the sound bite for each channel slider can last up to 5 seconds, it'll
kill it when pressed. however, the sound starts up again as soon as the user moves to a new
channel... yes, I could use multiple frames with multiple sliders and buttons that DON'T make
sounds and send the movie there when a mute button is pressed, but it was decided by the
client that they wanted the temporary effect instead. Go figure.

Anyway, now that I've explained all of this, you (and anyone else who cares) can look at the
site at:
www.tapework.com

The target audience is primarily sound recording professionals and executives with high-
speed connections... but we've had great results with even a 56K connection. The interface
is set up like a mixing board so I HAD to include certain items that I would have rather left
out to follow the wishes of the client (like the mute and volume buttons). But anyway, if you
want, take a look and feel free to criticize...er, CRITIQUE either publicly of off-list.
