Alright kids...let's burn the thread.....It's obviously not going to
overthrow MM's Flash, it's only going to make it easier on the Adobe
religious interface fanatics.....Macromedia has done a great job producing
this software, and in some sense, it is up to us to make it evolve.......So
Flash Killer or Flash Biter....bring on the software and be ready to adapt.

I've tried to stay out of all of this, but I've got to tell you that your
criticism is so narrow and unbelievably shallow.
Scripting is an entirely different batch of functionality. To even think
that
Adobe would address it when they're working toward the 80% of the market
that
finds the Flash interface and scripting too difficult is almost unfair; it's
a
first release.
I really think that you've missed the point in what Adobe is trying to
accomplish. A large majority of users of Flash come from a strong
background
with Adobe products and have a difficult time adapting to Flash. Adobe
brought
in the After Effects timelining and simplified the process from an end-user
perspective. They're not trying to overtake Macromedia's share; they're
merely
addressing something that Macromedia should have done a long, long time ago:
the novice end user. This tool is going to be better for all of us; more
novice
users = more total users of the open .swf format = more people wanting more
higher-end Flash stuff, and maybe it's just for someone like me, but I'm not
a
fan of the eye candy as much as I am a fan of some of the true usefulness of
those functions.
Both tools will come in quite handy in the future...even if it's just for
little
x-post wars in both types of email lists.
