The key with autotracing is that every new symbol you create adds to
filesize. Whether some particular artwork is smaller as pixel descriptions
or vector instructions is beyond that. What counts here is the sheer number
of symbols you're generating.

Captured video content can use interframe compression as well as intraframe
compression, which is why video content is usually best rendered as
QuickTime or RealMedia or something like that.
