You can paste into either side. It's very odd about focus tho. You have to
make sure you click on it just right so you focus it to paste it in. And
sometimes it doesn't like it if you're trying to paste into the middle of
something. If it wouldn't let you type in there normally, it won't paste in
there either. Paste it above that or below that and move it up or down with
the arrow keys. Just keep messing with it until it lets you do it... I can't
think of any specific examples.
