Why doesn't Macromedia market Generator the same way as Allaire 

markets their server version of ColdFusion. The web hosts license 

Generator Server (like Allaire ColdFusion Server) and developers 

license Generator Development Studio (like Allaire ColdFusion 

Studio). The Generator Development Suite would have a single user 

server and sell at a modest price - the same range as ColdFusion 

Studio. I'm sure a lot more people would develop for Generator if 

only they could afford the development environment.


If Allaire forced all developers using ColdFusion Server hosting 

services to buy a full server license there would only be "mega 

corps" using ColdFusion. I know I certainly wouldn't be using it. 

Same reason why I'm not using Generator now, nor will I be developing 

for it in the future under the old or new licensing systems.


If Macromedia marketed Generator the same way Allaire markets 

ColdFusion there would be thousands of new Generator developers. I 

know I would be one of them.


Sometimes you can't see the forest through the trees...
