Download the free Flash writer plugin for illustrator 8 from the Macromedia
web site. This will allow you to export Illustrator 8 files as swf and then
import them into Flash properly. Don't have the url handy but it should be
easy to find.

This is true for me when I save in an older format, but when I save the
drawing in Illustrator 8, when I import, all I get is an assortment of
whatever brushes I had in my brush palette in Illustrator. Now I know I'm
doing something stupid so go easy... ok?
