RE: FLASH: BP: Is Director like Flash?

Director is very different than Flash. The reason why some things look the

same is because the timeline in Flash4 was taken from the timeline in D7...

also D7 doesn't have actionscript but LINGO which is quite a bit more robust

than actionscript. In the past Director was traditionally better for cd

based applications as well as handling bitmaps better over Flash, but this

is changing with each new Flash release. If you are just doing web stuff,

Flash is your answer IMHO. For cd based stuff perhaps a mix of both, it all

depends on the look and feel you are going for. Oh yeah, and Director isn't

scalable like Flash is.

Hi Everyone!


I have been using Flash for a while now (although I'm still not that 

good at it - http://www.siteria.net was one of my earlier attempts at Flash)


Anyway - I was wondering what all the fuss was about, with Macromedia

Director, so I downloaded a demo of Version 7.0 from the net.


Now, a few things seem similar to Flash - The Internal Cast, seems to be the

library that was in Flash, and the Score looks just like the Flash timeline.


Anyway, does anyone know of a good book available or anything I can download

from somewhere that will help me learn it.


Will the fact that I've used Flash for a while help me, or is everything in

Director secretly totally different, than what it looks?
