I would suggest making sure to break everything apart, at every level of the
animations (except your MC) When importing from illustrator, you often get
more grouping levels than are desired, and these other versions (in groups)
do not look right.

Subject: FLASH: import problem from Illustrator
I created a 3d animation (step by step) in Illustrator and saved the
sequence as
animation1, animation2... (Ill 6 format not eps) and then imported into
flash in
a new mc symbol named animation. After FINALLY importing (18 frames) there
were
18 frames filled but only frame 4 actually had anything in it and that was
gobbeldy-gook (pattern fills and misc junk from illustrator). But when I
preview
it in the library window, it's fine. When I drag it to the stage, the 1st
frame
looks fine and when I test movie it runs fine. Still, I can't see the
individual
frames and want to tweak it a little. Any suggestions on reimporting or
saving
or whatever?
thanks
