To my knowledge, there's not a JavaScript API to the Acrobat Reader in
Netscape and IE/Win browsers. (IE/Mac doesn't let plugins and scripts talk
yet, unfortunately.)

I did a quick confirming search of the Adobe technotes with phrase "acrobat
javascript api" but pulled up many many documents. Perhaps one of the Adobe
folks who frequently pop up here might be able to help you achieve your
goals...?

(If there *is* a JS API to Acrobat, then I'd like to know the docs location
so I could point other folks in the future, tia.)
