Agreed. The targeting bit on day one clarified a lot, but Josh Ulm cleared up
90% of what was said that first day in about 10 minutes. It was a great
experience (my company paid, too, so I'm not too upset) but had I paid, I'd have
been pretty upset. Counting airfare, hotel, food, cab fare and the conference,
I'd say it was about $2000 total. For that I've got three days off work, a copy
of Dreamweaver/Fireowrks and Go Motion, sore legs (too many hills) a much better
understanding of LiveMotion and a clearer view of flash folks (half are computer
nerds, half are face-pierced punks - all said in love). That's not a lot, but
it's better than living through email posts and site news. Good to get out there
and into it.
Granted this is only the first (almost a beta version - boy, I've spent too much
time with computer folks) and things were changing on the spot. Hopefully, next
year they'll have a better impression of the audience size, wants and needs and
be able to tailor a little better. Besides, next year (New York) what'll those
who attending the "advanced" scripting be motivated to learn? Advanced Advanced
Scripting?
Lynda, you listening?
