I have an idea. How bout if everyone converts everything to flash with enormous high quality sound files. Perhaps a minimum file size could be something like 1M. I bet it wouldn't take long for all those slackers to get up to speed. :)

Latest stats I've seen:

14.4 or lower = 17%
28.8 or lower = 45%
33.6 or lower = 72%
56 or lower = 86%
ISDN or faster = 14%

Higher bandwidth services are coming slowly, but they're still only for the
fortunate and the early adopters.

Sidenote:
DirectTV has a new dual purpose dish (system retailing at $399) that
connects to your TV and your PC. It delivers up to 600kbps, and some
estimate it to eventually deliver up to 30mbps. It's only one-way
(incoming) but it's where you need it the most. It's $20/month and you
still have to have an ISP.

For some reason this isn' t on their website yet. I read it in Wired
magazine and in a flyer at Circuit City.
