Hi Carla,
When you're making a custom gradient, you have an option to reduce the
transparency of any of your colors. You can, therefore, create a sphere
with a radial gradient that is transparent on the inside, goes through a
color, and finishes with some kind've transparency on the outside. The
effect can be lovely. Work on different layers, combine a few of these
sorts of spheres, and a whole host of FX are at your disposal.
See also free lens flare fla's at flashkit, flashzone, flashlite, or any of
the other sites that offer freely downloadable fla files. Deconstruct them
and recreate them. But you'll find they all use gradients with
transparencies in them.
