FLASH: smooth color fades in a mc?

i have a movie clip that i want to fade from black > blue > purple > red >

yellow > white.

i used the special thing but it's a choppy fade, it's sticking to web safe

or something? is there a way to do this with the special tool or do i have

to layer a lot of alpha adjustments?
