FLASH: Ribbon writing effect?

I have an idea for a Flash for a client, and I know I've seen things in 

animations for cartoons/movies, but I'm not sure it can easily be done in 

Flash.  What I want to do is unscroll some text script into a moving 

ribbon and have the ribbon redraw itself into a musical instrument. 


I can envision the drawing part with masks, but I'm not sure how to make 

a ribbon move across a page in a silky snake like fashion, or how to 

decompose a script style word into a ribbon.


Anyone have any suggestions or tutorials that do something similar?  


It seems like a common effect in the old Fantasia, but those scenes were 

all drawn individually by hand...
